

Success Seminar: Strengthening Safety and Preparedness for First Responders and Healthcare Professionals

The European Centre for Disaster Medicine, in collaboration with leading institutions, proudly hosted the seminar "Protection and Safety for Healthcare Personnel and First Responders in Complex Scenarios: Challenges and Integrated Solutions." Held in Teramo, Italy, the event brought together over 120 attendees from diverse professional sectors.The audience included healthcare professionals, first responders, civil protection operators, law enforcement agencies, military personnel, and fire brigades, all committed to enhancing safety and operational effectiveness in complex and high-risk environments, including CBRNe scenarios.
As part of the seminar, CEMEC presented its ongoing projects, highlighting its leadership in developing innovative solutions for the protection of first responders:
-Project ENSURE-PROTECT: "Enhancing Safety and secUritRy for Civil defEncE Personnel by Protecting Rescuers with Training and Equipment", focusing on providing effective protection measures for emergency teams operating in hostile environments through advanced training and specialized tools.
-Project SHIELD-EXCEL: "Advanced CBRN Protection and Training for Civil Defense and Emergency Responders", aimed at enhancing safety and readiness through training and exercises in controlled environments, utilizing a dedicated chamber to test CBRN gear and response protocols.
Key highlights of the seminar included presentations on protection in hostile environments, discussions on integrated safety models and technologies and a roundtable on the future of safety and protection for first responders
