The 'Horizons of Disaster Medicine: State of the Art and Future Innovations in Promoting Resilience' Workshop, which took place on October 17th, was a resounding success. It drew a diverse audience, including healthcare professionals, emergency responders, public administrators, researchers, and numerous students engaged in the field of medicine.
The event was organized by the European Centre for Disaster Medicine in collaboration with the University of Rome “Sapienza” and other institutions. It focused on the pressing need for an advanced approach to disaster medicine, especially in today's world, marked by increasing risks associated with natural and man-made disasters. The primary goal of the workshop was to provide an overview of current practices and cutting-edge technologies in this field while also exploring future directions for the discipline.
Participants, including specialists, technicians, and representatives from academic institutions and organizations, had the opportunity to listen to industry experts, share their experiences, and engage in discussions on highly relevant topics. Throughout the day, crucial subjects were addressed, such as the evolution of the discipline from the mid-1980s to the digital era, CBRNe (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and explosive) risks, Advanced Trauma Life Support, Medical Urban Search and Rescue, Tactical Medicine, the One Health approach to emergency management, forensic medicine in disasters, and more.
The students showed significant interest and actively participated in discussion sessions and expert presentations. The Workshop concluded with a roundtable discussion on 'Medical Maxi Emergencies,' during which participants posed questions and contributed to a lively dialogue.
The event provided a valuable opportunity for medical students, allowing them to learn and interact directly with industry experts. It also exposed them to innovations in healthcare emergency management, cutting-edge technologies, and strategies for promoting resilience within communities.

Introduction
In the current global context, in which the risks linked to natural and anthropogenic disasters are increasingly present, an evolved approach to Disaster Medicine is essential. The Workshop "Horizons of Disaster Medicine: State of the Art and Innovative Futures in Resilience" aims to examine the most advanced strategies to address the medical impacts of emergencies, as well as to look towards future challenges and innovations.
General objectives
The primary objective of this workshop is to provide an in-depth overview of current practices and cutting-edge technologies in Disaster Medicine. Industry experts will share their experiences, opening a debate on how to integrate state-of-the-art solutions to improve the management of health crises. In parallel, the future directions of the discipline will be explored, ranging from applications of artificial intelligence to the design of advance action plans
