European Centre for Disaster Medicine Joins Global Efforts to Combat Climate Impact in Africa

In a step forward to fortify climate resilience in Africa, the European Centre for Disaster Medicine (CEMEC) has joined the newly inaugurated African Network of Climate Change Expertise Centers (ANCCEC). This collaboration was announced at the network's first exchange meeting recently held in Casablanca, Morocco. The initiative has been supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), enhancing its capacity for significant impact.Committed to tackling the increasing challenges posed by climate change, which threaten the ecosystems and public health, CEMEC joins a distinguished roster of partners: Climate Change Competencies Centre of Morocco (4C Morocco), African Climate Policy Centre (ACPC), Sahara and Sahel Observatory (OSS), ENDA Energie, Global Center on Adaptation, International Institute of Water and Environment Engineering (2iE), ICLEI Africa, CGIAR, Climate Action Centre of Excellence, and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). Together, these organizations form a robust coalition aimed at enhancing disaster preparedness and response across the continent.
As climate change intensifies, CEMEC's involvement underscores its commitment to enhancing disaster preparedness and response capabilities continent-wide. By sharing expertise and coordinating on groundbreaking research, CEMEC and its partners aim to develop sustainable solutions to the most pressing climate challenges faced by the continent.
This partnership is part of a broader strategy to harness international cooperation in building a network that can deliver practical, localized responses to climate-induced disasters.
