The European Centre for Disaster Medicine participated in the 68th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), presenting the project ENSURE-PROTECT: Enhancing Safety and secUritRy for Civil defEncE Personnel by Protecting Rescuers with Training and Equipment.The event saw the participation of nearly 3,000 delegates from 139 countries, with the highest number ever of participants from non-governmental organizations (NGOs), highlighting the IAEA's growing commitment to involve all levels of society. During the conference, nearly 100 side events were organized, showcasing the latest innovations in nuclear science and technology.
The ENSURE-PROTECT project focuses on safeguarding health rescuers and operators engaged in civil defence and critical tasks, especially in conflict zones and hostile environments. Through the provision of specialized training and protective equipment, we aim to enhance the safety and operational capabilities of first responders, critical infrastructure workers, and inspectors.
