"Successful Youth Engagement in Emergency Response Techniques at the 'Festival of Play"
San Marino 20-27 May 2024
"Successful Youth Engagement in Emergency Response Techniques at the 'Festival of Play"This year's "Festival of Play," organized by the Elementary School Directorate, attracted nearly 1,400 students from 13 school complexes. The event, which spanned five mornings, was designed to encourage children to choose healthier alternatives to video games by engaging in outdoor activities with peers in park settings.
The festival saw the active involvement of various cultural institutions, enhancing the event by merging education with entertainment in a community-focused atmosphere.
A notable highlight of this year's festival was the collaboration with the European Centre for Disaster Medicine (CEMEC). The Centre set up an engaging booth, staffed by certified trainers from the Italian Resuscitation Council, focused on educating children about recognizing dangers and responding to emergencies through interactive play. This innovative approach not only imparted crucial safety skills but also underscored the significance of early emergency preparedness.
The inclusion of CEMEC underlined the festival’s commitment to comprehensive education, prioritizing not just physical activity and social interaction, but also vital life skills. This initiative signifies a shift towards more holistic educational approaches that prepare children for all facets of life, including unforeseen challenges.
The success of the festival in seamlessly integrating essential skills through fun and engaging activities has established a new benchmark for educational events, positioning it as a model for future efforts aimed at creating safer, healthier, and more interactive environments for our youth.
