International Collaboration Strengthens Risk Mitigation Efforts in African Atlantic FaçadeThe UNICRI Programme Management Officer and Regional Coordinator for the CBRN CoE African Atlantic Façade, Ms. Stefania Micucci, recently engaged in Rabat, Morocco, in an insightful discussion with Professor Roberto Mugavero, President of the European Centre for Disaster Medicine (CEMEC). The focus of their meeting was to address CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) risks and to explore collaborative efforts to support the African Atlantic Façade region in mitigating these threats.
The discussion highlighted the importance of international cooperation and strategic planning to enhance the resilience of partner countries in the region. This initiative is part of the broader EU CBRN Risk Mitigation Centres of Excellence (CoE) Initiative, led by the European Union's Foreign Policy Instruments (FPI) and jointly implemented with the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI).
The meeting underscored the commitment of both organizations to work together in strengthening disaster preparedness and response capabilities. By leveraging their expertise and resources, they aim to develop comprehensive strategies to manage CBRN risks effectively.
