Interdisciplinary Synergy: Exploring Human, Veterinary Health, and Social Assistance in EmergenciesFollowing the successful inaugural event in March, professionals reconvened for a second session dedicated to human and veterinary health, alongside social assistance during emergencies.
Hosted by the Zooprophylactic Institute of South Italy (IZSM) and the Regional Centre of Reference for Emergency Prevention and Management (CeRVEnE) the gathering, partnered by the European Centre for Disaster Medicine, brought together over 70 experts from various fields. From veterinarians to medical doctors, pharmacists to chemical biologists, and biomedical laboratory technicians, the event emphasized the significance of interdisciplinary collaboration in disaster preparedness and response.
The day was marked by insightful discussions, explored important topics related to human and veterinary health, as well as social assistance.
Commencing with a warm address from the Director-General of IZSM, the morning session, under the guidance of the Civil Protection for the Campania Region, explored holistic health paradigms in vulnerable regions, titled "One Health and One Welfare in Critical Context."
In the afternoon, the focus shifted to the compelling "Agenda 2030" and Sustainable Development Goals Roundtable, led by the Italian Ministry of Health. In this session, participants engaged in stimulating discussions on sustainable practices within the targets outlined by the United Nations.
Throughout the proceedings, attendees also gained insights from esteemed speakers associated with the Naples Local Health Authority.
The course is aligned with CeRVEnE's 2024 Regional Training Plan, emphasizing public health and veterinary safety. Led by IZSM, this initiative demonstrates a strong commitment to promoting professional development in science and related fields.
