The collaboration between the University of San Marino and the European Center for Disaster Medicine Highlighted in the Inauguration of the Academic YearAs part of the solemn inauguration of the 2023-2024 Academic Year, the University of the Republic of San Marino underlined the importance of the collaboration with the European Center for Disaster Medicine (CEMEC). The ceremony, which was attended by the Captains Regent and a large audience made up of students, academics and institutional representatives, was presided over by the Rector of the University, Prof. Corrado Petrocelli, and saw the lectio magistralis of Prof. Giuliano Amato, President emeritus of the Italian Constitutional Court.
Rector Petrocelli underlined the significant role of the initiatives of the University of San Marino in the last year, both at a national and international level, placing particular emphasis on the close collaboration with CEMEC, directed by Prof. Roberto Mugavero, professor of the university San Marino, Academic Senator and Director of the University Center for Security Training (CUFS). This collaboration was cited as an example of initiatives aimed at creating a European-wide network of skills and competences.
During the ceremony, a lectio magistralis was held by Prof. Giuliano Amato, President Emeritus of the Italian Constitutional Court and protagonist of a political career that has seen him hold important roles such as Prime Minister, Minister of the Interior and Minister for Institutional Reforms , as well as having been a parliamentarian for eighteen years. As an author, he then signed texts on European integration, individual freedoms and other legal and political issues, also speaking on fundamental rights and the right to personal identity.
The event represented an important opportunity to reflect on the impact of academic activities and to celebrate the collaboration between the University of San Marino and prestigious institutions such as CEMEC, highlighting the joint commitment to cutting-edge research and training .
